Mark Schmitz

Mark’s calling as a designer surfaced at a young age. His elementary school teacher put his drawing on display in the school hallway and he knew that was what he wanted to do. After attending UW–Madison, he transferred to Madison Area Technical College (Madison College), where he studied Commercial Art and Illustration. His associate degree helped him land a design job in Denver.

"Until I transferred to Madison College, I was lost and unsure how to apply my talents and passion to the professional graphic design world. Madison College helped me define who I was as a designer and what I wanted to do professionally," Mark states.

Mark returned to Madison and founded ZD Studios with a partner, and now his designs are very prominently placed around a number of institutions in the state. He and his team have redesigned logos, branding, signage and other aesthetic elements at UW-Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium and the Green Bay Packers Stadium, Lambeau Field. ZD Studios also designed the UW-Madison Kohl Center's new floor, provided a new look for Madison’s State Street business district, and influenced the aesthetic environment of many other buildings and sites around the country.
